Solly is an 11 year old perinatal stroke survivor who began physical, occupational, and speech therapies just days after birth and has continued them on a weekly basis ever since. His little sister Bea, now 8 years old, has always tagged along to these therapies, but because toys in therapy clinics are typically reserved for patients, she always felt left out and unable to play with her brother. That is, until Solly started hippotherapy at Manes for Movement. Now, every Tuesday, Solly and Bea get to ride at the same time, soaking in the benefits of equine movement while getting to spend precious time together - and finally getting to have a shared experience to bond over. Bea loves her weekly rides with Goldie and gets most excited when riding time includes time afterwards for Goldie's beauty treatments (who doesn't love sparkly hoof polish or rainbow hair?!). Each week, Solly receives huge benefits from stretching his tight muscles while riding and always gets a kick out of playing the games that his favorite volunteer Ms. Sue sets out for him. We know how lucky we are to have Manes for Movement as part of Solly’s regular therapy program and we’re so grateful for our Tuesdays together. Barn days are the best days!
